How They Are Similar

Authors Note: This is a comparative essay between two characters, One from the Hunger Games series and one from the book The Fighting Ground.

If the government was doing something you disagree with would you just go with the flow or would you try to make a difference and rebel against government? Both characters Katniss from the Hunger Games series and Jonathon from the book The Fighting Ground would rebel against what the government said. That is one of the many similarities they share.

One Thing that’s similar is they both share in common is they both go out to find themselves outnumbered by enemies, for Jonathon when he is hiding from the Hessians and Katniss in the first book when she is surrounded by Peeta and the other stronger people in the hunger games.

Also they both tend to not do what there told. For example In the beginning of the book Jonathon disobeys his parents when they tell him not to fight in the battle he goes out and fights anyways, Katniss when she’s in district thirteen she never followed her schedule that was put on her arm every day.

One big difference is why they are fighting. Jonathon is fighting just because he wants to know what it’s like to fight in a battle. Katniss is fighting in the hunger games because she is protecting her sister. The second time is because she is forced to. When she’s fighting in the rebellion she is fighting for revenge. Another small difference is there weapon of choice. Jonathon’s is a musket and Katniss’s is a bow and arrow.

One more difference that doesn’t make that big of a difference is that The Fighting Ground took place in the past and the Hunger Games series takes place in the future. Overall they are very similar but have one major reason, and that is what’s driving them to keep going in there fights.

SO over all they are about the same. If you watched the way they acted you might even think that they are brother and sister.
