the pearl essay

The Pearl is a Book Written by John Steinbeck and is about a poor indigenous Mexican family. The family consists of three people Kino, Juana, and Coyotito. In the beginning of the book the author describes Kino as a strong young man with black hair and a thin mustache. Also he described him as impatient. He described Juana as a nice patient and independent young women.

In the beginning of the book John Steinbeck stated that Kino and the rest of the villagers were surprised that Juana asked Kino to bring their baby Coyotito their baby who just got stung by a scorpion to the doctor seeing that she was a very independent young women. When Kino and Juana found out that the doctor wouldn’t help their baby Kino expressed his anger by punching the wall. The next day they went out on their boat to go pearling and that day Kino found the Pearl of the world.

When Kino found the pearl of the world he got very paranoid because everyone wanted it even the priest wanted to take the pearl from him. During the night someone tried to steal the pearl. The day he went to town to sell it the buyers in the crowd all ready had it set up to cheat him. He called them dirty cheaters I and I would agree with him they were being cheaters. They were just trying to cheat him out of his money. After he called the cheaters he left the auction and prepared to leave in the middle of the night Kino gathered up some food and was preparing the long journey to the capital to sell the pearl.

When they stop to rest Kino warns Juana what plants she can and can’t touch. When he comes back he sees that someone has killed his boat. At the end of the book Kino finally realizes that the pearl has brought nothing but trouble. For example Kino and Juana lost their boat and also their son Coyotito was killed. So he throws the peal into the golf.
