The Hundreth Dove Essay
It was a blistering hot summer day in a big old forest of old England where a fowler named Hugh was out to catch one hundred doves. He left his house right before dawn with a big net that he would catch the doves in from there he would take the doves back to his little house which was by the edge of the forest go to bed and take the doves that he caught to the King as soon as he woke up. Little did he know that he was going to run into some trouble.
He didn’t think he would run into trouble because he was the best fowler in the kingdom. A lot of people think they are really good at whatever it is they do. They think they’re so good that they won’t ever make a mistake and because they think that they tend to have a bad work ethic. It doesn’t matter what you do for a living because if you have a bad work ethic you won’t be the best you can be. And if you aren’t the best you can be then you are selling yourself short.
Selling yourself short is especially bad in sports because if you sell yourself short you’re not doing the best you can do which in some cases may cause you to lose your spot on the team. Or in the real world if you sell yourself short it could cause you not get that promotion you thought that you had in the bag, But in worse cases it could get you fired and if you get fired your life will be far less pleasurable because when you get fired you don’t have a job that is paying you. You can’t pay for basic necessities like groceries and at times you can’t pay for things like groceries you have to borrow money that you probably won’t be able to pay back.
That is why you shouldn’t expect thing to go just the way you want just because you’re the best you have to be a hard worker and do whatever it was that you did that got you to be the best. Just like Hugh did. Every time he went out to catch the birds he was very careful and checked to see if his net had any loose strings and if it did he would fix them.
